Accuracy guarantee?
      #113006 - 30/08/08 10:50 PM

Hello Folks,

When I bought my H.S. Precision rifle I was intrigued by the guarantee of 1/2-inch accuracy. When I looked closer I found that they promise it will shoot a three-shot group of 1/2 inch or less at 100 yards. In fact, it will. Yesterday I shot eight groups. Two measured less than 1/2 inch, two were ever so slightly larger, and four were about one inch. The average for the eight was significantly under an inch.

I have complete confidence is this gun as a hunting rifle. At reasonable ranges it has the capability to fire a killing shot every time. My problem is, I’m not satisfied with that. I shoot thousands of shots in practice for every one I fire in the field, and I enjoy it. I like to shoot little groups, knowing full well that my standards are unnecessarily strict.

I like single shots, and I’m trying to buy a Cooper M22 Classic (more on the “trying” part later), in the hope that it will equal my expectations. I have target rifles with which I can shoot ten consecutive groups of less than 1/2 inch, many much less. I realize they are not going to make this part of their guarantee, but does anybody know if the Cooper has the potential to keep five consecutive three-shot groups under 1/2 inch at 100 yards?

Take care, Tom

Heck Tatume, I make flintlock rifles that will shoot 1/2" at 100 yards.

It's only a problem if I fire a 2nd shot.........

Using that method, the rifle you built for me will never do better than 0.66 inch. :-)

Yes, but with Steve's rifle you will not need the second shot!

This is why I have a build request in Steve's calendar.
