Anyone own a Krieghoff Hubertus or Blaser SS?
      #11117 - 07/03/04 05:29 PM

Would be really interested to hear any info on these two break action singles. Particularly interested in quality of finish, accuracy, weight and any problems encountered to date.

Thanks.

GG

...me three!...

...looked at all of the ss offerings at the recent sci-reno convention (merkel k-1, blaser k-95, krieghoff hubertus and chapuis)...

...of all the offerings, liked the krieghoff the best in terms of its standard break open action and the ability to put a qd mount on the pre-cut rib...the balance was also really nice, and the workmanship looked superb...

...did not really like the jagr (?) system on the k-1 or k-95, seemed complicated and hard to clean...but don't know if this is a valid dispute point...both have integrated qd scope mount systems, tho the blaser looked a little more versatile/easier to use...

...between the two jagr sytems, k-1 and k-95, would probably opt for the blaser, given the embellishment possibilities...and the blaser stutzen was especially nice...light, compact, great balance and handling, and pleasing to the eye, not to mention reasonably priced...

...just my humble opinion...

Thomas

Your thoughts are interesting as I prefer the looks of the Krieghoff myself - although I've only seen pictures on the net. I love single shots and really like the idea of one that breaks down like a shotgun or double rifle for transport. Also the fact that they should be fairly light weight and accurate and look so sexy.

Hopefully someone will eventually pipe up with real experience of living with one.

GG

Gentlemen
I have a Blaser K-95 Stutzen in 308. I have only had it to the range one time. I fired it prone off my pack at 100 yards. I fired it with the following loads: 168gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertip, Federal 165gr Trophy Bonded Bearclaws, Federal 150gr Ballistic Tips, and a reload with 180gr Hawks. I fired one 3 shot group with each of the above loads except for the Winchester 168's which I fired for three 3 shot groups. One of the WW groups was fired after removing and reattaching the scope for each shot. [I used the Blaser European QD lever mount].
NO group was larger than one inch. I was VERY suprised how the rifle shot since I was shooting mostly factory loads. The rifle extracts perfectly and handles real well.
It also has a very nice piece of wood [3 peices actually].
This rifle is destined to become a favorite for sure.
