What handgun for self defense???
      #111008 - 03/08/08 10:53 PM

Found an interesting article on the logical selection of a handgun for self defense. The handgun selection process was made for home defense as well as carry for both he and his wife.

I have a home defense gun much larger than his selection with an attached laser/light source and carry smaller lighter carry guns.Guess I obsess/specialize needs--

This fellow is very practical, analytical, and thorough.
I like his handloading projects/articles as well.

I suppose I'm like you. I prefer a full size handgun if clothing choice allows me to conceal it effectively. I carry a Glock 21 with night sights fitted with a Surefire XD-200. The XD-200 has been replaced with a couple of newer models now, but mine works fine. There are many times during the summer when I find myself forced to carry something smaller though. I carry a Smith and Wesson 37 Airweight .38+p, or the new Ruger LCP. While they lack the stopping power I would rather have they are as I have heard it put, "better than a hatpin". I shoot the Corbon .45acp 165 JHP+p in the Glock. I use 125 grain federal .38+p in the S&W, and Corbon 95 grain +p in the little LCP. Massod Ayoob has some articles you might enjoy reading.
