The only guy who works on my double rifle is JJ Perodeau at
Champlin Firearms, Enid, Ok.

I admire his work, I trust his judgement, and I am very happy with what he charges! There are several members of this forum who will only entrust their rifles to JJ.

As a side bar, time spent in JJ's shop is a wonderful experience! Just my opine!

DB, there's Lee LaBeaux in Carson City, Nevada. I don't have his contact info but you could PM Luv2Safari for it. He lives only 40 min. away from LL. This is also one of the double smiths that Butch Searcy recommends. I may have spelled his name wrong.

At this point, since my purchase of the Krieghoff got screwed up, I want to talk to a good 'smith before I spend money on a used double....reliability issues, value, etc...what to look for and what to avoid. I figure if I start out with the fellow who will be my 'smith he will have an interest in what I buy.

Having someone with experience, who has seen and worked on a large variety of double rifles and who probably has strong feelings about certain double rifles would seem to ve very, very helpful.

I use both of the above and have been more than satisfied over the years..

Actually I think LaBouix was that Texas Ranger that got himself killed helping Rooster Cogburn in True Grit?
