Andre: Congratulations on a very nice Type M. The M is my favorite Mauser model. Also nice to have the rare version of the trap door. This rifle is a keeper.

Ohh yea it is a keeper
I will use it for the spring buck hunt. Just mounteds another vintage scope on it, a Kahles 2.3-7, used the original rings.
I also have its bigger brother the model L and will post pictures soon.

Cheers,

André

Look forward to seeing photos of the Type L, otherwise known as the "African" model. I'm still looking for one of these for my collection.

Beautiful rifle. Was it refurbished or is that the original finish? Thanks for sharing.

It is the original finish.
The rifle has had very little use.
The barrel is like new with sharp grooves

I might refinish the stock a bit since I will never sell the rifle anyway, might as well have a nice finish.

I have also mounted a "new" Kahles 2.3-7X on it. Used the same rings and it worked out great.

The Original scope is a Gerard 2.5x and it was not enough for me if the rifle had to be used for modern hunting.

Cheers,

André

Andre,

Good to see you post here.

Wonderful rifle! You guys in Europe do find the nicest of treasures compared to those of us who live in North America.

Yes, please do post pictures of your other treasures as well.

Welcome and good hunting!
