One and all,

Some photos of my custom built 9.3 x 62 that I recently acquired.

Built by Jack Millar. Engraving by Phil Vinnicombe. (Floor plate, Receiver ring, mounts etc.)
S & B Scope Suhler QD mounts. Rigby type peep sight.
Built on 09 Argentine Mauser action.

Very light rifle and handles well (suites me).

JohnK you are one very lucky B... The guy who advertised this one must have been swamped with calls and some were mine. It was as good as I thought it would be, good luck, I hope it has a proud hunting future. Jack Millar was a great trademan and all the other artisans that had an input, what can you say. Anyway, good hunting.

John,

Fantastic rifle, we need some more pictures of it! How do you like the double set triggers?

Dale,

Not sure about the double set triggers yet. Once set, very light crisp let off (which I like).

Some more photos posted.

Very nice! I would like to see more pictures! What does the full rifle look like? The but stock wood looks awesome. Is the reddish colour the colour of the wood / stain or a photo effect?

Naki-hunter,

Full length photo posted as requested. Whilst the stock does have a redish hue, it is not as pronounced as in the first lot of photos. This photo is closer.

Thanks JohnK. It looks even better! I can't help comparing to my Simson. How does it shoot? What loads have you tried. Please keep us posted.

I really like this rifle!
A tasteful "modern classic" to my mind with a nice mix of features reflecting English and continental styling.
I suspect it was made for a New Zealander (John K, you bought it second hand, right?)with the stag on the floorplate and the chamois on the action.
Also, I have seen other "mountain" guns without forend checkering. I figure the thought is that it is too easy to scar the forend checkering when hunting in rocky and treed areas, so why do it.
Great action! Great style! Great gun! Congrats!

Isn't that one of the Golmatic peep sights from Gottfried Prechtl? (www.golmatic.de)
