Exploding Sako actions?
      #100734 - 29/03/08 12:00 PM

In my wanderings looking for a conversion candidate,I keep running into posts about the exploding actions from Sako. Are these fact or fiction?

Curious.

Barrels I believe. They had a batch of bad ones. See their website as I believe there is a recall.

9Three

Recent or is this just a rehash of a 3 year old piece of information ?

If reading the internet, forums etc,
suggest see what date it was posted.

The info I was able to google was showing dates from 2004--old stuff...

unfortunately, most if not all manufacturers would qualify at one time or another for the POS of the year title..

Sako and Tikka. Same factory? Same source of barrels obviously.

There was a recall.

A Tikka uses Sako Barrels and Trigger so yes, same batch problem probably.

Hell, everymanufacturer gets it once in a while.

Wait till China starts making guns in Quantity !!!

So it was barrels, not actions. The only pics I could find out there were of barrels,so that makes sense. Too bad other sites are'nt as good as this place for factual, let alone believable info!

AFAIK, all old info.

I'm not certain what the recall involved; new barrel or new gun?

Interestingly, China, as we all know, does make a gun or two, or two billion.

I get your point tho.

You got me thinking, Nitro, before the ban, supposed millions of Chinese SKS's and AK's were imported to the USA, etc, far more than the entire production of SAKO/Tikka commercial rifles, I bet. Now that you mention it, I haven't heard of a single SAFETY-RELATED issue cropping up with them. Anybody else?

And anybody have any experience with that Winchester Model 70 clone thing that Norinco imported for a while back in the '90's?

9Three

Valid point.

When I write that, I was thinking cheap, bolt actions.

Just my impression of China that once some of the "Commercial" companies get hold of things, then standards might slip !

But at this stage, you are correct.

500, regarding that, have you ever seen one of those Chicom Win 70's over there?

Chinese sporters marketed in this country (Australia) are all unashamedly marked "Norinco" AFAIK.
The lever-action pretend-87 shotties are marked "IAC".

Norinco did a pretty good copy of the BRNO Model 2 Rimfire rifle too, very serviceable junior club-gun.
