Sorry, maybe I was not clear. I do not need a barrel but was wondering if Mauser had offered for sale replacement sporting rifle barrels. I have a Mauser marked barrel (that is also dealer marked) that I was told might be a replacement barrel. I was not aware that Mauser had ever offered barrels only and was trying to confirm the story.

It is a octagon barrel with the mauser name and address on the rib, cal marked on the top of the barrel, serial (121,000 range) and proof marks stamped so they would be under the woodline. Dealer marked M. Widforss (they are located in Stockholm and still in business) on the barrel flat below the Mauser name. My gut tells me it is a take-off, but with Mauser there are lots of exceptions.

I'd say that the barrel was pulled from an original rifle. Some doofus probably wanted a $25 .30/06 barrel instead of this beauty. I knew a gunsmith, Bob Shives, in Chambersburg, PA who had probably 50 original Mauser barrels with ribs and beautiful irons that he had pulled for the local boys. Funny, he usually forgot to offer the old barrel back. He died a few years ago. I wonder what happened to the barrels?
