Something to drool over!

Hat's off to Greener for bringing back a much loved old design! Graham Greener has been a friend of this site and has helped with information in the past. I know that he visits here occcasionally. This is a message of congratulations to him, David Dryhurst and Richard Tandy on a superb creation!

Well done - would love to see the Pictures of the 22 Savage Hi Power whn finished, I think it would be really nice on that action.

That is one lovely rifle! Thank goodness it doesn't have a Greener safety.

I'm envious of Sinner's position.

The Greener safety though good in its day, is not my choice for a good lock up for a DR by any means.

I do like the look of scalloping the action - looks more elegant that way when compared to my Greener. I also like that they put the Greener name on the "cheeks" just below the breeches - is this specific to their rifles? I haven't seen them engrave their name this way on a shotgun although I haven't compared a huge number of them.
I also look forward to seeing the .22HP - excellent choice!

It was Peter Nelson who suggested to me about this new double at Greeners' years ago.

Sinner,

Advance congratulations! We have a visual treat coming up very soon!

Your choice of the 22 Savage High Power is very interesting especially because it was recommended in India at one time for game as large as tiger and leopard in a kind of early high velocuty craze. Both it and the 450-400 should be superb rifles and among the first Facile Princeps actioned guns made in more than 60 years.

I just can't wait to see the pictures here.

Congratulations and good hunting, my friend. Thanks for always sharing pictures and information here.

Envious as always Sinner. I look forward to the pics. I sold Bob Peterson a Thys in 22 Hornet a few years ago. A perfect little gun for a lot light game. I am especially looking froward to seeing the HiPower.

I really miss Bob he was a tremendous collector, hunter, and a good friend. He is sorely missed, by all that knew him well.

His arms collection was the finest that I have seen in private hands. I remember visiting him in Danville California at his home years ago. He had an entire 20,000 sq ft. ball room stacked to the brim with cased guns. It was a sight to behold.

I don't know if the museum's foundation will acquire them all or not from his estate. It's pretty hush hush right now.

I've been to Paris and Edinburgh several times myself. I lived in London for five years while whoring for Financial institutions. My missus is a St. Andrews alumni so that took us to Scotland many times. I did a fair amount of hiking in the highlands also. And, it was there I learned to appreciate a fine single malt.

I did go to H&H and Purdey while I live there, but they would not let me see the guns. That's ok, I got to handle whatever I wanted at the Vintagers last year, Ha!

B.

What exactly is it that makes the Facile Princeps unique?

Not all boxlocks are created equal - what makes this one more equal than others??

The Facile Princeps is NOT a boxlock

It is also the strongest break open action designed. In Africa as well as in India these guns were very highly regarded for their durability.

There is a brief description sent to the forums at the above link by Graham Greener. For more information it would be best to buy his book.
