Even though this thread is about the Lang, does anyone have any comment on dnovo's post about the Rodda .475 Straight? Looks like it's a heavy thing at 12+ pounds and no ejectors, but I called Kevin about it a couple of weeks ago, and he said he'd take 12K for it. Has some pitting on the action, and a small crack in the pistol grip--not along the grain, but perpendicular to the trigger tang that he's having someone in Bozeman fix. While we're at it, they've got a .470 that's a Belgian (?) gun (Raick Erigis) for 15K. I called on the Rodda because I too need a long LOP, and those are few and far between. Haven't asked about the Belgian gun yet--I know nothing about them except for Francotte. It also has a long pull--15 5/16.

Well, speaking of Kevin at WR and looking at this Lang at Barnett's, how about a sidelock Lang in far better condition for $2500 more 'ask?' Kevin has this gun, http://www.westleyrichards.com/gun/used_guns_2_product.php?id=25657

True its in a 360 No. 2, but that is a much different proposition than a 360NE and while not anywhere near as potent as the 450#2, this would seem a much better buy and much more gun for the money, but then it's not my money and I am not in the market for either at this point. Dave

I am tempted to contact Barnett and ask for further pics of the barrel and the barrel flats.

Be interesting to know if the barrels are a redo(not obviously chopper lump type)--

For a double rifle that will see the use it was intended for, length can be easily and cheaply added with a wood extension. Done well, you'll have to look twice to notice it.

Drop at comb and heel are the more critical measurements. Tough to add wood to the comb or heel, but it can be done.

Cast can be bent in if it isn't too far out for the prospective owner (but not with extended top straps), 1/4" isn't ussually a problem according to those that do the work for me. I've never had a problem with 1/4" bend or less anyway.

Hope you find a suitable DR.

I agree.

I own a 450#2. With Reloader 15, the 450NE or 500/450 are superior.

All the 450 are about the same ballistics, but the 450 #2 has that monster case is the only issue.
