Is sitatunga available for hunting in Namibia? I've heard that they can be found there but was not sure if they are a huntable species there. In reading through some of the Namibian outfitters websites, I have not seen them mentioned/offered.
If they are, what part(s) of the country are they found?
Are sitatunga indigenous to Namibia?
What would the trophy fee run, generally speaking?
Would there be any other stipulations attached to hunting them there - i.e. minimum # of days, CITES, etc? In other words, assuming they are available, would they be an "add-on" species or would you have to specifically request one?
Currently, Sitatunga are not on quota anywhere in Namibia. They are indigenous to the Caprivi area. Red Lechwe are also indigenous to the Caprivi, but, alas they aren't on quota either, although they are available on a couple of game ranches. Jan Oelofse was trying to build up a huntable herd of them the last time I hunted with him about 4 years ago.
