Hi all-
I'm looking for some good images of well done extended top tangs.
For example, here's a couple I found of recent offerings out on the web...
Holland from cabelas

Holland from Drake, second image to show perfect(!!) comb detail
Anyone here able to provide more images of this kind of detail?

Sinner-
Has the 360 been refinished?
That Ggirffne engraved rifle is one of my all time favorite gun sculpture jobs. I really do like the work on that rifle a lot.
Do you have many mid to early 19th century guns in your collection?

Yes Champlins refinished it a few years back. Bores are excellent.
Yes I do, to many to name.

Sinner-
Do you have an early 19th century example of a top tang over the comb like this that you could show?

Early 1880's Holland

I will try and get a close up study done of the top straps as I am able.

Sinner-
Do you mean to say that an example from 1880 will be the earliest example I'll see of this detail?
I'd like to see an original Brit percussion or flint sporting rifle with this detail if possible.
Gatsby-
The "2" on the Holland you show here is pretty wacky. I really like that font detail!

Tinker, I guess that was the script of the day as the gun was commisioned by the D. of Portland.
Holland top strap circa 1871.

Sinner:
That photo of your old H&H that shows the "gargole" face on the top strap, is that the gun that has the dragon/gargole motife that has one of the dragons knocking one of the letters in "Holland & Holland" out of alignment?
If so, I have seen photos of that gun. Amazing.

Posted for Jaz, I am sure they are all Hollands, perhaps he will identify each one. An amazing collection.
