Anyone read the article about hunting in Zimbabwe in the Feb/Mar 2008 issue of Sports Afield?

In a nutshell it makes an argument against hunting in Zim as only prolonging the inevitable and making the suffering last longer.

Actually I did --and if you look further in the magazine another article (letter to the editor) by on of their own writers--(Kevin Robertson)- that directly opposes that same article--basically stating that if we don't continue to help out--then surely all that is left will be lost...

I question the significance of government trophy fees in propping up the regime, when compared to the royalties, bribes, taxes, etc paid on mineral and metal eports to China, etc.

I personally believe that those in the safari industry that are brave enough to tough it out and try to operate as normal should be supported. After all, if they leave, what will be left worth supporting after the regime finally withers and dies?

In a recent Hunting magazine Craig Boddington went with Remington and blasted some of God's finest specimens. At the end of the article (a lion hunting article) he claims that Zimbabwe is not a good place to lion hunt. I wondered then if this was not just anti-Zimbabwe snipe from Hunting's most famous hunter.

I think the only good places to hunt for Craig are those where someone else picks up the tab.

Who wrote which article?

Personally if I had the money I would still hunt there this year.
