Drilling Ammo Question
      #95198 - 26/01/08 04:01 AM

Hi, hey most of my drillings required 16 1/2 shells. Have no problem getting 6 Shot and 7 shot from gamebore but what about ball and buckshot? I want to do a boar hunt in the traditional method... :-)

I do the same. I load my own. Contact Ballistics Products. They can provide info. I Use a Sub-choke ball in a cushion underwad that fits in a shot cup. I allow for the shot cup to compress to the choke. I have better luck with the "cape" gun with a cylinder choke. What caliber is the rifle?

This drilling in question is 8x57JR. The shotgun is in 16 x16 and is choked ~ modified. I have 3 others in 16 and they are choked modified as well. One with 7x57r rifle.

So how would you load up for modified?

PS. Thanks for the reply!!!

Ballistic Products makes a slug and wad combo for dangerous game for the 16ga. Measure your actual bore diameter and then see if a slug will pass through without much compression. Or, have a ball of the size of most constriction with under wads or one that will fit in a shortened shot cup that will fit the choke including the wad wall thickness. Now, powder charges are an issue. I use Black powder loads and fiber wads (or black powder substitutes, I like the goex one and have used Hogdon 777).
You can get some charge and wad combos from Ballistics.
