has anyone here used the old Brno sidelock 12g shotgun for thr basis of a double rifle build? I think this was made by Brno until the late 1980's. This is a czeck made gun, not the Turkish Hugulu gun.

Well, I used the search function and found a gent in Ontario has used one or more. I think they are a good choice for me , high quality and available in Canada. I just found and purchased a couple for a really good price at a company called Tradex in Montreal. Here they are.

This looks interesting - I have a similar project in mind. What caliber(s) are you thinking about?

I plan to keep the best set of barrels in their present configuration, the other set will have the chokes removed for a 12 guage ball and slug gun and be fitted with express sights. I plan to make at least 2 or 3 mono-blocks at the same time and barrel one for .450 no.2 or possibly a sharps .45.

Another mono block will be barreled to .577 2 3/4 BPE if I can find the barrells. The mono blocks and barrels will be a lot of work I know. I will make the 3 or more mono blocks at the same time, to save set up time and barrel and finish one at a time as time and money permits.

I recently finished a Big 50 productions 50 BMG rifle. Made it out of pre hardened 4140. It took a lot longer than I thought. These will take me a couple of years of spare time I imagine.

I wonder about the possibility of rifling the existing barrels. A gunsmith of my acquaintance has a 12 ga. rifling head that he might sell. A friend and I are in the process of making a sine bar rifling machine, so we may just give it a try.

Nice job on the .444. Blending of the barrels is great - is the monobloc seam just in front of the rear scope mount? Hard to tell. Great economical cartridge too - fun I bet.
Buckbrush is on the right track, I think. For me, metal work is easier than stocking a gun, so starting with a pistolgrip stock is the right way to go. Now that I have bought some "real" double rifles, I am more interested in building one myself too.
Keep us all posted on your progress.
