What draws are you submitting for this year?

Well, we missed the Wyoming Antelope Draw, but will still be putting in for "speed goats" in nebraska, as well as a state-wide buck tag.

how about you guys... what ones are you "hoping for" this year.

oh, I'm contemplating putting in for the Bison drawing in wyoming... not sure yet though.

Actually, you have until March 15 for the goat draw.

I have a couple of other non-residents coming in for goat hunts if they draw out.

Let me know if you're interested and we'll talk about areas.

I'm not an official guide and charge no fees. Hunters wanting a true trophy should go with a real outfitter. If a nice 15" buck would trip your trigger, I'd have no problem getting you into the field and on such a critter.

I'm in Casper which is centrally located. We have excellent herds in all directions with no more than an hour's drive. Casper has plenty of motels, bars, and other necessities!

And, if you're really interested in pasture poodles, the season is just around the corner. The big males are already out and about in 8" of snow and 28 F day temps! Crazy bastards!! They are so inviting when I am searching bunnies, but to take these animals would cause harm to populations.

The females will arise in a couple of months as they prepare to give birth to the future targets of Wyoming

Let me know what you think.

there is no guarantee of my having my small-bore rig ready for "goats" and all of the wyoming non-resident stuff I have says 1-31 was the deadline... interesting...

as for p-dogs, thats the most attractive opportunity to me... lots of practice!

I'm just not sure if I have a rifle that is up to snuff...

I could re-scope the 25-06, but that's not a sure-fire solution as it may have other issues that need working out, and its a bit big for dogs... and I'd still have to find the money for it (it currently has a variably 3-4x50 weaver on it... its supposed to be a 3-9, but 5-9 don't work).

below that.... I might be able to borrow a 22-250 (slight chance), elsewise, its 22LR or bust!

unless, of course, you guys hunt p-dogs with big-bores too!!!

Jan 31st has been the traditional date and still is for most species. Antelope are, however, until March 15.

Here is the page link:

http://gf.state.wy.us/fiscal/license/draw/2003/nonresident/index.asp

Regarding prairie dogs, the 25/06 is really a very good calibre for these parts due to the wind. I never use anything smaller than a 6mm/243 (except rimfires), cartridge because the constant winds blow the smaller bullets around quite badly at ranges beyond 300 metres.

Big bores and prairie rats? Absolutely! A great way to practice shooting from various field positions, learn shooting stix, etc. It will also demonstrate quite clearly how well your rifle carries in the field.

I used to take my M70 375 and top it with a 4.5x14 during the off season. I'd zero the rifle at 300 yards with the big Sierra 300s. Great long range bullet! Too much fun trying to land those big boogers on a dog's head at 300-400 yards

I'm working up a light 500 NE prairie dog load now. It will be a 500 grain pill at about 2200fps. I still need to project the estimated muzzle energy to make sure the load will be sufficient to stop the deadly little rodents

And I'm always up for a rimfire dog hunt. Economical, fun, and contributes to the food chain when one leaves the disassembled rats out in plain sight for the raptors and the prairie wolves!

Take care and keep in touch.

Yep, you've got to March to apply for antelope.

I did and hope I draw, will be my first pronghorn. I also put in for moose in New Brunswick.
