Remington Spartan Discontinued ???????
      #93400 - 04/01/08 12:48 PM

From another forum.

"Well gents, it looks like the prophets knew what would happen, but we can only (GUESS?) the reason. Just recd. word from a guy in the Remington booth at a trade show in Las Vegas that the infamous Spartan side by side rifle is discontinued. Cheers"

So much for the 45/70 !!!

Gee, I wonder if it was a safety issue?

500Nitro,

Anyway as I said elsewhere, is it a bad thing? with all the guys immediately talking about wanting to rechamber them to a more powerful calibre?

I wonder if Baikal however will still go ahead as the "Remington" was mainly just a "re-badging" or am I wrong?

I know I was told Baikals like that wouldn't be available as X number of firearms were slotted for the US market first, before Australia?

John

Yes, I seriously think they dropped it because of
problems with the one in Canada and the fact that
so many people wanted to modify it - and made it
so damn obvious.

I think it was lawsuit paradise waiting to happen
in the US and Remington weren't goingto risk it.

I might ask the question of some people in the US
and find out what the reason was.

I really counldn't give a shit though !

Hopefully someone else will come up with a plan for a budget minded better made double rifle in the future with more 'suitable' chamberings.

If it happens it'll be the ChiComs at Norinco. The labor will be cheaper than the Russians.
