I know many of you are quite avid hunters and a lot of hunting is based on where you live. The size of you wallet may be the second factor.
I have taken over 100 animals in north America.(Deer, Boar and Bear) I have taken 38 in Africa (alot of cull hunting). 14 0r 15 with Safari-hunt! How about you?

For me numbers have never been the thing.
Africa: 1 buff and 13 plains game
New Zealand: a couple of trophies. This is terrible as there should be more from NZ as it is a great place to hunt.
Australia: a couple dozen deer, of which a few were trophies and the rest for venison. Feral game including pigs, goats, donkeys, other medium game, probably one to two thousand.
The best thing - all the Aussie hunting was done more or less for free, except for the last couple of years when I paid for pig hunting access no less.
A pig hunt has always been a traditional way to warm up for an African safari. Shooting the same rifle and ammo for live practice.
In the good old days a tally of less than a couple hundred ferals would have the farmer or grazier thinking you were a waste of time. When we learned what to do, I would hunt for myself some of the time, but then "bomb" up mobs taking close to 100% of the ferals, often by ambushing whole herds. To get some serious numbers.
Pigs are down in number now due to aerial shooting campaigns, drought and shooting for meat sales.
Goats have become a marketable commodity if they can be caught and are profitable. Still usually can shoot some but have to pay for each one - around A$30.
Donkeys - still lots around in some places but far far away. Stupid creatures.
Those things that hop. Yes but need tags or a permit. Good running practice.

Christer, not much to tell, due to a job I had in the Army, I was working with some scouts up north and in the cold, we were in a white out, and the bear took a point man, we followed when it clear and found the bear, it appeared to be sleeping,, as we approached to with in about 85 yards it pick it head up and I dumped a full mag out of a BAR, .. And I don't mean a Browning Mk-V
The point man was a retired scout that knew the area, and was our guide,

DaveJames....I spent some time in the late '60s and early '70s in Alaska as Chief of Weather for AAC and NORAD and I'll always remember how most of the Exercise Scenarios began......"unconfirmed reports of Russia paratroopers near Tok Junction, eskimo scouts are investigating."

Nitrox my friend i've been hunting since the age of 12 and over a period of 45 years my score is not that impressive as that of some of my friends. There are some real hardcore hunters around here who have nothing else to do except hunt all year round. They don't have to earn a living as i or you do as they are all filthy rich and have money to burn. There are guys who have hunted the Himalayan Ibex and MarcoPolo many times and have hunted Africa over and over taking the big five at least twice or thrice. This year a couple of them are hunting the Central Asian States dishing out $35,000 for each animal(marco polo).

I really have no idea, but counting culling its probably at least a 1000 on plainsgame in Africa...I have shot near a 100 Buffalo give or take a few. I hunted deer and elk all my life in the US and quite a lot in Mexico and those numbers are high by comparison to most..I never kept a Talley book but I could come close to telling you about every animal I shot and what caliber, rifle and load that I shot them with..I have almost a photographic memory on that, but not on actual numbers.....But I have been in the hunting business off and on my whole life and mostly on, both full time and part time...I have hunted most everywhere and spend a good deal of every year in the hunting fields....I have shot fewer Lions, Leopards than anything else, but have been on many Lion and Leopard hunts with PHs and clients...I just do not like to hunt cats and I am too antsey to sit in a blind unless I have too, its not my thing....I suppose I would rather hunt bull elephant than anything else, but the next bull I shoot will have 100 pounds of ivory or I will not shot another, which at this stage of my life means that baring plain luck my elephant hunting days are over, but I have another 50 Buffalo in my plans...that is what I like to hunt,
My other love is to take my Win 94, 25-35 and poke around in the hills behind my house and shoot a Mule deer every year, or hunt with my 12 year old grandson, I really like that more than anything else.....

Mr Atkinson,
I must say that you are real lucky man to have taken so many BG especially if you think of the costs of BG these days.
This is my count mostly limited by wallet and it doesn't tell my real expereince as well talking out people to hunt and just hunting for photos as well. 14 years hunting experience so far and hope for another 80
Warthog 100-110 +- Impala 9 or 10 Bushbuck 12 Kudu 18 (10 cows) Bluewildebeest 2 Black wildebeest 1 Mountain reedbuck 3 Gemsbuck 1 Springbuck 9 Blesbuck 1 (Not likely to shoot another one too stupid unless cheap)
And hundreds of days in the bush and veld not shooting anything

I don't think any of us can even come close to Ray Atkinson's totals.
I've been hunting since 1961 in North America, and since '85 to Africa for 15 times.
Only ever shot 2 Buffalo, but lots and lots of plains game over the years.
It would be an interesting challenge to get out all the photo books, and add them all up, specie by specie.
Maybe next winter.

If bullshit was buffalo, I killed thousands upon thousands.
That may also apply to others.
