You may want to reference Terry Wielands book "Dangerous Game Rifles" as well as he did several tests in one chapter that showed the Woodleighs held up as good as any..

You could also try Bear Claws - as long as they are originals or the redesigned modern ones with the stronger jacket. Wieland covers these too in the book and also in his rifle shooter article from a while back...

As a fairly simple man I've never fully understood why we should change somthing that works perfectly well? Our women change things around all the time, and thats enough for me...;) Stick to the woodleighs, they're great bullets and far good enough. A lot of PH's say they're splendid bullets, and as far as PHs goes I'll quote R. Ruark, he said something in the neighbourhood of: "...what's good enough for the pros are good enough for an amateur like me..." I have a Merkel DR .470, and I'd never ever put anything through it that might harm it, nor overload it. Frankly I don't think a buff or a lion would care if you used woodleighs or swift in a .470, there are noe mammals on the earth today that don't succumb to a solid or soft woodleigh from a .470... My two cents though..

It's called Fuckitis. That mystrious force that makes normally sane people screw with everything in an effort to improve it, no matter how well it already works.
Fuckitis is closely related to Expertitis. Expertitis is a condition where in a person thinks he is an expert in a chosen field and only he can improve what already exists, and appears, to everyone else, to already work as well as can be expected.
A third type of disease is Gunsmithitis. A person with Gunsmithitis is needed to fix those things that get broken due to the actions of people with Fuckitis or Expertitis.

I think I do have the tendency toward the F---itis but the price tag of my Double has given me cause for serious reflection.
Usually when I screw something up trying thinking I have Gunsmithitis it causes me much anger an youstupiditis!! I find it is always better to deal with moneyitis and just pay the freight than get tatoo'd fixin things on the back end!!
Cheers!!

Fuckitis,
This condition is why we have nitro double rifles shooting stable powders rather than black powder single shot muzzle loaders, which replaced the bow and arrow, which replaced the spear, which replaced the stick and the rock.
And why we fly to our safari destinations rather than take a steamship, before that a sailing vessel.
Sometimes it runs amuck, then we have bolt rifles and pump shotguns and auto loaders of any description.
