Nice --BUT, don't think that is the pre-64 action...

Can't see the claw extractor clearly if it is present--
It might be the post64 push feed version-

If anyone is interested it would certainly be worth an email to the sellor to clarify THAT up--

Got a response from the sellor-

"I am not totally sure. It has a claw type extractor. But it is not a rotating type like my Mausers, so Im going to call it a push feed. Hope this helps."
Randi and Jodi

I think I would pass on the rifle given that response--

I almost got suckered into buying one several years ago--same type of situation..Kept thinking, why hasn't this sold at this price--then the light went on..checked and sure enough--post 64--

They are not that hard to find--there is a gun show in my home this weekend--saw one there as well..

If you want to pay more than top dollar for one...
There is a 1st year (1956)model 70 super grade african in 458 here in town.. Up to $13K
But the seller has a reputation.... Not a nice one either.

I have this same rifle in left hand. It is a controlled feed, but was not manufactured until the late 80's. I believe Winchester was calling this line the Classic.

I have heard people say they do not like these since they are not built like the original Pre-64, and I cannot disagree with that. However, mine handles and shoots like it was made especially for me. It is a well balanced tack driver.

If this one were left hand I would have liked to have had it.

I can add a little to this. If you note on the floor-plate it says Super Express. In 1983, I purchased a new Winchester model 70 Super Express in .458. I remember paying $575USD for it.

The 375 & 458 were the only two model 70's that this moniker was applied to.

Hope that helps.

IIRC, mine was $675 OTD. The 375 was the only chambering available in LH.

The 375 and 458 were available in RH.

After Browning, or the owner of Browning, purchased Winchester this model was made with the Browning inline stock, and the wholesale price jumped to $999.
