I am just starting to do some serious research about doubles. I saw this today. John Rigby and Company Boxlock 500 NE http://www.gunsinternational.com/results.cfm?order=Price%20DESC&cid=579. Can some one please tell me why these prices are different from some of the more upmarket ones we see. Is it because the rifles were restored by craftsmen without the big names behind them? Cabela's seem to have some great guns. I was at their Michigan store last month (my first visit to the US) & saw some beauties. Any help would be a great education.
One day I will own & hunt with a nice English double rifle, just like old days in India, where I was born!

I think I found it.
If this is the gun http://www.gunsinternational.com/detail.cfm?id=100006682&string=act=adv
Then it is a MODERN made Rigby by the US based Rigby (who aren't Rigby at all) and use Merkel actions.
And it's overpriced for that it is !

Hey,
If anyone wants a pre-war British big bore full nitro double rifle for less than $10k, check out mine.
This is the real deal guys. She handles like a dream and hits like a hammer (5000 ft/lbs).
I just recently competed in the Vinatagers stopper class with this rifle and place about mid-field.
You won't find a rifle like this any where in the world at this price ever again.
Also, being a 500/450 you can use old 470 NE brass and Remington bullets. This is one very cheap gun to shoot; less that $1.00 per shot.

Bonanza, What make is your rifle? Do you have dies & mould for lead bullets? It sounds like some thing I might want to look at the next time I am in the US. Would you know what paper work is required by an "Alien" to buy it? I can easily get the New Zealand export permit. Thanks for the help.
