W.Richards .577 Snider.
      #86380 - 29/09/07 10:23 PM

Hi,
I’m looking for information about W.Richards at Liverpool guns and history. I read some on their site but would like to hear some more.
I have an old W.Richards double .577 Snider. I had to restock it and make some other restorations but barrels are almost mint inside.
It have been polished to a point that almost all making is missing. I have only last two digits of serial number (19). I’m in the process of reloading some ammo for it with help from friend on Internet.
What I would like to know most is if I can date this rifle with so poor information?
Thanks
Martin

W Richards and Co sre still functioning at Liverpool.

Just send them an e-mail and you should get the information that you want.

And, again at the risk of pestering you, Some pictures, please?

Thanks in advance and good hunting!

mehulkandar,
Hi again. LOL
I know their site but when I contact them could not get much information.
My rifle have no seral number (it was erased) and I only know last digits (19)that I found on lock plates.
W.Richards charge (75 pounds at that time) for complet info about my a W.Richards gun and I ask the gentleman if he can give me info only with those two numbers.
I presume that there were not much 577 Snider dobles with serial number ending "19" but never get an answer. I have not problem to pay for the info but I only want to know if he could get the info.
Beg your pardon for the long explanation but thats why Im looking for information here.

Thanks
Martin

PS: Its a promise I will post pictures of my rifle but it is far from mint condition.

Martin,

A good source of information you could try is www.internetgunclub.com who charge you for a one year's membership and then dig up information on any number of British guns you would like investigated during this period.

John Smith, the manager there, is known to me and you could e-mail him through the forums.

Hope this helps and thanks in advance for the pictures whenever you find time.

Good hunting!
