Big Bore Cartridge Load Data Pool

Guys - BASA, the Big Bore Association - Southern Africa (www.bigbore.org) would appreciate historical, technical, reloading (all known propellants from Accurate to Vihtavouri including Somchem and ADI/Mulwex) data and performance information on the cartridges below for use in future issues of its full colour, premium quality, Big Bore Journal magazine and its data compilation guides/books published from time to time. It will be greatly appreciated if Nitroexpress forum members would be so kind as to:
1. Put BASA in touch with anybody reloading for these cartridges anywhere in the world;
2. Spread this request through all internet forums and associations with a view of soliciting the info.

All contributions used will be source acknowledged. People with info can also contact the BBJ editor direct at africanhunter@bigbore.org:

Please give your assistance to Pierre.

Lets propagate information on reloading NE and other big bore rounds widely.

But please record your reloading data here on NE as well for everyone's benefit.

As previously advised:

I use 105 grs of AR2213SC in my WJ Jeffrey double in .450 No.2 NE. The big case requires the use of a filler. I use a couple "wads" of black cut dense packing foam cut with a 1/2 inch BP punch. Primer is a Federal 215. Case is Bertram. Bullet is a Woodleigh 480 gr RNSP Weldcore or a 480 gr Woodleigh RN FMJ.

Velocity is around 2150 fps.

That's my current load so far and have been using it, but not 100% happy with it and will eventually do some more load development. Has worked well enough for a few dozen beasts so far though.

- powder H-1000 Min 97 grs Max 109.5 grs - Velocity 2380 fps
- powder IMR 7828 Min 96 grs Max +-99.5 grs - Starting load only suggested, untested load by originator
- powder IMR 4831 Min 91 grs Max +-94.5 grs - Starting load only suggested, untested load by originator
- powder AR-2214 Min 97 grs Max +-109 grs - Starting load only suggested, untested load by originator
- powder AR-2217 Min 96 grs Max +-99 grs - Starting load only suggested, untested load by originator

350 gr bullet
- powder H-4350 Min 94 grs Max 98 grs - Velocity 2540 fps
- powder H-4831 Min 98 grs Max +-103 grs - Starting load only suggested, untested load by originator
- powder H-1000 Min 104 grs Max +-109 grs - Starting load only suggested, untested load by originator
- powder IMR 7828 Min 100 grs Max +-103 grs - Starting load only suggested, untested load by originator
