My Muzzleloader DR project.
      #84690 - 27/08/07 12:07 AM

Im new here but this is a very good forum with tons of info.

I decide to begin an old project, that is to make and regulate a muzzleloader DR.
It must be muzzleloader because you have to be a registered gunsmith to make cartridge guns in Argentina but you have no problems with muzzleloaders.
An old gunmaker friend give me two .50” rifled barrels of his make some years.

My project is to make a double in-line muzzleloader on a double shotgun.
I plan to sleeve the barrels and put then in the monoblock. I will make the plug to accept a 209 primer as most in-line. This way I can use the gun as a standard DR but only loading it by the muzzle.
I ordered the book “Making double rifles on shotguns” and I will have it in a week.

I want to know if:
Is there any thread on a similar project?
Do anyone made a similar rifle?
I’m looking for advice.
Thank you very much!

That sounds like a fantastic idea. Im afraid I cant offer any useful suggestions because of my very limited knowledge of machine work; but I look forward to hearing and seeing your project. WHEN its finished be sure and take it after game.

What size shotgun action are you using? The idea has me thinking about a 2 or 4 bore.

I have some experience building a single barrel on a similar concept. There are some pics in the muzzleloading section in a thread entitled "my front stuffer". I'd be glad to answer any questions.

Steve,
Thanks for your offer.

My project has just began as I’m waiting to find the “perfect shotgun” that is a hammerless with demiblock.
But I will wait until I get the book “Making double rifles on shotguns”.

I have two questions for you.
Can you tell me how do you make the chamber for the 209 primers?
Also, How do you extract the primers?

Thanks
Martin

Get yourself 2 of these:

Thread the chamber area and install them.
