Double rifle regulation and southpaws?
      #84239 - 19/08/07 06:51 AM

Hi,
I’m new to this forum and have a question.
I’m left handed and I will like to know if this will affect double rifle regulation.
I mean, do this affect the way a double rifle shoots?
Thanks
Martin.

In short, No, not that I've noticed.

I'm ampidextrous and sometimes shoot my SMALLER
calibre doubles left handed and it doesn't seem
to affect it.

I also do the same with Bolt actions - when I can't
get a decent shot Right Handed - and this doesn't seem
to change either.

I'm a lefty and haven't noticed this as a problem.

Thanks for the answers.
I was concern because so many things can change regulation......
I will try to make my W.Richards 577 Snider shoot again.
Thanks
Martin

I bought a right handed double rifle and had the stock changed for a lefty (left handed cheek piece). It shoots fine no problems.

I can attest that four right handed double rifles I own all shoot under 3" groups. However, when I shoot them offhand, they pull to the left.

I'm loathed to bend the stock and affect the value.

I'm a lefty too and was concerned that regulation would be affected by the recoil from the right barrel being constrained by my cheek and from the left not being consrtained by a righty's cheek. I have had no issues but did need to drift sights for about a inch or two horizontal difference from the way the rifle came to me. When it came to me the witness line scribed in the rear sight was in line so the difference was perhaps the difference between a righty and a lefty shooting the same rifle. IIRC, the rifle shot to the right. If my concerns were valid, the rifle ought to have shot to the left. BTW, all loads with all bullets shot to the same (right?) side of POA before I drifted the rear sight.

JPK,
That was what I was thinking. Taking the fore end with your right hand must be different than taking it with your left hand.
The line of force of the recoil must be different.
Thanks
Martin
