Seeing how well Marrakai has done with his Greener convert, i was wondering.....

Regardless-more or less- to cost, what is the absolute best action/model to use to convert into a double rifle?

i.e. does it go into larger gauge, stronger action and such? So by taking say a 10g Jones with a dollshead extension, or a 10g with a a third bite of some other type, is this better than using a heavy 12g action?

Apart from being barrel heavy, that is.

Marrakai, how well is that Greener holding out against the 577x2.75" anyway?

BEST??? I don't know about the best, but a vary good candidate would be the Browning side X side. It's because they have been converted so much that the price has gone so high on them.

To build a 470NE do I need a 12ga Browning SBS or is it possible to use 16ga or 20ga?

It doesn't have to be barrel heavy, you just need
to make sure the profile of the barrel is right
for the length of gun / action.

Secondly, the Greener is fine for the 577
if your gunsmith does it right.

Enough have been built over here to know
that so no need to reinent the wheel - again,
which is what a lot of people seem to want to do.

I bought a Mauser bolt rifle from him at a very attractive price and which I could have made a lovely profit on if I sold it the very day I received it, had I wanted to. Can you give me some details? I'm about to place an order for a Merkel 140 or 140A, this week, depending on a couple of details. BUT, having a rifle custom built may be more interesting!

Unsure which is best, but I have looked at the CZ actions and for the money appear to worth a look. My only hold back the ones I've seen are single trigger guns. What would be the feasiability of putting two triggers back as it should?

These have been built on 12bore B25 actions before in 470.
Not what I would call a good dangerous game rifle but some might see it differently.

Edit:forgot to mention the amount off 20b B25 that have been converted to smaller calibres like 9,3 8x57 etc is rather huge.
