a short update on my henry.

reloading die set arrived, came from CD-4H at a price of 226 $

the recoloring of the action idea abandoned, due to the different companys warning about the action might warp during the process. it will get a brushed finish with some black enmal to highlight the remaining engraving.

just for fun i found a site with this:

and this that made my mouth water a bit.

that would be something to have in the collection

best regards

peter

Peter;
What a great project you have there. After it is done, what a prize this will be. Multi barrels, great calibers.
I have some project guns to work on, but never have the time or the resource to work on them so far.
Best to you and your Alex Henry. Can't wait to see the shooting result.

I will be a little south of you this week in Rotterdam. Business though.
Any Shops there I might visit that may have some nice guns to look at that you may know of?

yep jump the train to london, only a few hours away, or go visit roland in belgium, and see how the H&H engraving is progressing.
i dont know of anything in holland, unless your are into gypsy horses then i have quite a few adrs.
there hunting laws are really harsh.

best regards

I don't think it will warp if the right guy does it.

i dont either, but the gun is worn enough as it is so i dont want to take the chance. i got a line on another in england that is all original and with full colors and everything so this one will be my working gun of sorts.

Thanks, Peter. No time for a trip across. I am in Rotterdam and then on to Milan.
I read an interesting article about the 20/.577 a while back. This should be an interesting "working cartridge" for most anything.

i think that it would be the best solution for anything from including buf and down, inside of 150 meters.

we will see during the tests

Shooting buff at 150 meters? It must look like an ant.

Peter,

I had an option to buy the 20/.577 that you are now restoring. It was in India at the time and the dealer would only sell it after he was done restocking it. He stated that he was as good as the British stockers ever were. He did do a nice job on it, but it has been restocked. I have a.577 Alexander Henry hammerless double rifle almost identical to yours that was built for the Maharaja of Kashmir.I hope that your project is very successful. I turned down the rifle that you bought for the one that I have now. I admire your desire to undertake the restoration of the 20/.577. It would be a shame if it was never restored. I too have owned many Alex Henry double rifles. The wood piecing on the pistol grip is quite common.

Larry
