I too purchased my Mauser M03 from Tip Burns at Canyon Sporting Arms, Canyon Lake, Texas
I have always been treated with respect by the fine folks at Tip's place!

Tip is very helpful, and the most enthusiastic M03 supporter I've run into.
I didn't think I would like the M03, but the design has grown on me tremendously and I'm impressed with the build quality. The barrels are overpriced IMHO...it would be nice if these would achieve some of the Blaser's success in the U.S. so prices would come down to something more reasonable.

Taw, I'm with you. I hope they have a great deal of success here in the States. I could be emptying a bunch of rifles out of my gun safe if the Mauser barrels came down in price.

Anyone purchased the Lite (alloy reciever)version? The overall weight of the steel version makes this worth a look. I'm finding it hard to find a good picture of one of these so that I can see the different scope mounting arrangement. Actually it would be good if Mauser had a few more images of all their scope mounts given the price. George

Are they even making the alloy version? I don't see it listed on their website anymore.
I really don't find the M03 to be what I consider a "heavy" rifle. Maybe I'm just fooled by the balance, but with a ~24-inch .30-'06 barrel it doesn't feel as heavy as my .30-'06 Empire 98 TD (also with a 24-inch barrel).
The price of the scope mount is definitely outrageous...if you needed an extra one to go with another barrel you'd be better off buying a complete rifle on the second-hand market. I got a serious steal on my M03 because the dealer was closing out their entire rifle inventory; at $1,995 + tax I could probably part it out and make money.

Did you get a scope mount with yours? Either way you got a bargain as the are $AS 4K plus and then $650 for a scope mount.
The local importer told me a few weeks ago that the alloy version was the same price as the steel reciever.

Mine came with a mount, and I'm pretty sure they all ship with one. It's buying the second one that would be tough to swallow...US$600 "in any configuration".
