With the big ones only {over .400}:

How many shots do you fire per range session?

How many shots do you fire per year per rifle {caliber/rifle stated}?

With the big ones only {over .400}:
HEAPS - 100 - 200+ easily.
Partly dependant on how many DR's I buy
as all get 20 - 40 shots through them while
working up a load that works in them.

How many shots do you fire per range session?
20 per gun Max

How many shots do you fire per year per rifle
{caliber/rifle stated}?

Depends on what I am doing each year and which
doubles I take out with hunting with me.

I try to take a different DR hunting each year.

If I take a DR hunting / culling, I'll take
60 rounds (about 5kgs which is the limit to fly with)
and apart from 2 to check the regulation most would
be used before I come home.

Max I have is 500Nitro, 505 Gibbs and 500 Jeffrey.

If I have a 600 or 700 Nitro,
I doubt it would be 20 shots !!!

700 nitro 4 to 6 shots,600 overkill 3 to 8 shots,585 wells mag ( basically a 3" 585 nyati) 2 to 6 shots, 450 dakota 4 to 10 shots, 460 weatherby 4 to 10 shots,3 1/4" 500 nitro express 4 to 8 shots, 458 lott 2 to 6 shots. I do not shoot all these at one range session. I shoot alot of heavy caliber handguns too.

Approx 60 per week 15 each in 4 calibers 470,450-400,375H&H.and 400-360. I shoot alot because I reload and have a hundred yard range in my backyard.....Iam a lucky boy. Many owners of BIG BOREs rarely shoot them....they are Phallic Symbols Grunt Grunt. A PH once said to me he thinks many guys are afraid of their guns

Searcy PH 470 Nitro-

20-30 reduced loads (500 grain hardcast) and 6 fullpower loads per session, all reloads and all offhand.

If I feel good, may run up 10 full power per session.

My weekly sessions include bolt action work as well, all offhand practice on the metal, perfect conditioning for my trip next month.

458 Wichester, typical range session or competition could see about 40 rounds.

450 3 1/4 nitro Ruger #1. Range session and comp 20 to 40 rounds. These would be mixed in with others like 9.3x74R. and 45/70.

My limit for the .450 is around 8 or 9 rounds if shooting at targets.

If I need to shoot more, I take a break and shoot something smaller for a while and shoot another 4 to 8 rounds.

Over 400 crowd---
If working up a load for my .416-I have shot as many as 20 --but that is my max--I will shoot something smaller as well as I have to drive about 30 minutes to get to where I can shoot--on my .470 --I usually will not shoot more than 10 per session.

As to number shot per year--If I have a hunt coming up--I shoot at least 2 times per week or more for about 2 to 3 months before I go--shooting mostly from hunting situations--not off the bench--I like to practice shooting off hand as I feel this is the most challenging and yet in a lot of cases the most practical..

fortunately for me, I have a Double Dealer in town I have become friends with--as they shoot all guns before they are put on their web site--I have the good fortune of shooting a lot of those guns--which is a great way to shoot many different doubles and not have to pay for the ammo--tough job but somone has to do it..
