On Saturday, I met with Bob and we took my 700 nitro double, my 600 overkill, and Bobs 600 nitro van horn pistol out to shoot. I have to admit that after seeing the video of the gun flying back over a guys head with the "mild" 600 load, I was a little nervous. I shot the 600 with the 1040 grain bullet and handled it with out too much trouble. I figured I had done better than the range instructor guy. Then it was time to try the full house load with the 900 grain bullets generating nearly 5600 ft.lbs of energy.I have to admit that my heart was racing pretty good before I touched the round off. To say recoil was severe would be an understatement. The only recoil I have ever felt like that was when I shot my 460 weatherby 12" barreled encore. It was quite brutal, but I held on and the gun did not come back as much as I thought it would. It is a rush of excitement. I was relieved after shooting the hotter load and noticed that all body parts were in tact and working properly. There were no cuts, bruises, black eyes, bloddy noses or broken bones, you just have to hold on really really tight to control the 600 at full power. Now it was Bobs turn with the 700 nitro. He had never shot anything above a 460 weatherby before. He handled the 700 just fine, especially for weighing a little over 1/2 of what I weigh. He rolled back with the recoil about a step and did a good job with the 700. I finished out the day shooting my 600 overkill with two different types of bullets. We then called it a day and Bob headed back up north. It was a pleasure having Bob down to shoot and I made a new friend.Bob did take some videos of the shooting and we will get them posted , hopefully with in a couple of days. Another great thing is that the 600 encore has a new home and is staying with me! It is not a gun to go plinking with everyday, but I will certainly go shooting with it again. It is a real blast.

The first two videos are me shooting the 600 overkill. I was shooting 900 grain bullets at 2250 ft/sec. The 3rd video is shooting the hot full house load in the 600 nitro that was Kamakazii's. The 4th video is shooting the "lighter" load with a 1040 grain bullet. On the heavy load, I did use duct tape under my gloves on my trigger finger and first finger of my right hand.There is just no way to hold the 600 pistol with one hand on the forearm like the range instructor tried to do. That is why the light load came back and almost thumped his skull and the gun went flying behind him. If you hold on tight, with both hands around the grip, you can somewhat control the recoil. I want to thank bulldog for posting these and I am still working on getting the 700 notro being fired by Kamakazzii posted here. The one thing I do not like about the T.C. Encore is the trigger guard extending. If you have fat fingers, the recoil will bite your knuckle every damn time during very heavy recoil.

I don't like to be impolite. But this something that would get said in my hunting camp very quickly and very sharply.

Watch were you are pointing that gun!!!

Gotta agree with you there, I winced a little even when it was just on video. Regardless, cool videos and you sure can take a lot of punishment.

I watched all 4 videos again and at no time saw a loaded gun pointed in an unsafe direction. I only loaded one shot at a time in the 600 overkill. I certainly do not want to promote unsafe practices. All 4 shots were basically single shots. they all went off without a hitch. I know what they say about an unloaded gun, but after shooting these, they truely were unloaded. In all honesty, a truely empty gun never shot anybody. To my right and in front of me there was 160 acres of unihabitated privately owned woods.Please point out what was unsafe. No feelings hurt on my end, but let me know.I have been shooting for 25 years and have always considered myself quite safety conscious.

Better watch the first video again. As you talk to the cameraman you sweep the muzzle completely across him, from your right to your left... No mitigation that you just fired and to aggrevate the bolt is still closed.

It ain't okay to point an empty gun at anyone!

Double D, the camera man is way over behind me and to my left. At no time is a loaded gun ever close to pointing at him. Aware of how lite encore triggers can be, the gun when loaded is pointed to my right. However you are right, everyone should treat any gun as loaded, even if you know it is not loaded. It is a good practice. Thanks for the comment. I weighed the gun on a very accurate scale and found the 600 nitro with scope to weigh 5.78 lbs. Lighter than the 7 1/2 pounds that Bob thought it weighed. Recoil comes out to 194 ft.lbs, at 46 ft/sec.= ALOT !!

Double D, I finally see what you are talking about when I swing the gun around. It was after I shot it. Even though I had only loaded one round it it before shooting it, so I knew it was empty, I should have kept the barrel in a safe direction while turning around. Point taken, and a good one it is. We all need to be safe all the time.

I'm also impressed. I have given up shooting rifles that I know are going to hurt.

A friend is having a 585 Inyati made so I guess I'll have to pull the trigger on it once but I am hoping the 'smith never gets it done.

As for the muzzle direction, give it a break.
