It would be an interesting study. Listening to the tourists. Those who barrack for the lions and those whom barrack for the buffalo.

Whom would you barrack for?

Wild!! Amazing footage!!

Never thought Buff would show that much focus to surround and attack a pride of lions!!

And the croc going for the calf--WILD!!

I must admit that I was pulling for the lions in this case as they did all the work with nothing to show for it but a major league ass kicking!

you can see the one lion on the left jump from the water when it either was bumped by or when it saw/sensed the croc come into the party...just awesome footage!

Did the Lion that got tossed by the Buffalo actually get wounded / injured ?

I was cheering for the lions. I mean, they've got to eat too.

Overall a bad day for the lions.

One gets tossed and possibly fatally wounded, and another almost is croc food. On top of that the animal taken down gets away!!

I think I read somewhere that only 50% of lion attacks are successful.

Those may be some hungry cats!!

The lead Buff looks like a shooter. Is the boss mature?
Any thoughts on his spread?

Yes, it was quite badly injured IMO and was having trouble running away. Supposedly a lot of lions die from buffalo encounters like that one. Hooked in the lungs or guts or even an injured leg. No "workcover" for injured lions in Africa which can't hunt.

I'm quite interested in the pyschology of this.

I am 100% barracking for the lions.

Most tree-hugging tourists seem to barrack for the prey especially if it is a "baby" (a calf) such as in this case.

As an impression, more males barrack for the predator with more females barracking for the prey. Perhaps I am wrong, please comment.

I think the hunter mind-set identifies more with a predator than a prey.

Does that make Greenies "natural prey"?

*** Enjoy the video above too. Great footage of lion, buffalo, a lion hunt on buffalo, a crocodile attack and tug of war, a buffalo attack on lion! ***

WOW!! How about a similar orientation by the majority of the sexes??

Men--Hunters pulling for the predators

Women--nonhunters pulling for the prey

Men -admiring predators

Women- assocate themselves with prey, scared of predators(until they get married!).

Excellent insight there John!!

I don't know what barracking is... but I thought it was interesting that the croc choose beef over cat.

If buffalo have memories there is going to be one little cat hating buff!

Looks like the herd bull and maybe ?40 inches??
Could somebody else with more expertise comment?

I think I would take him!!

That's probably the most action packed African video out there! An amazing amount of variation within the 8 minutes it lasts.

Both my wife and I were hoping that the lions would get fed, as that's the way nature works.

On the other hand it was very interesting to see that these buff fought back, instead of running away as usual.
