Camo cloths in Zimbabwe ?

Camo cloths in Zimbabwe

I am due to hunt in Zim in august. As a bowhunter I am prone to use camo cloths preferably.
Officially the camo cloths are forbidden in this country because they remind of the bush war I suppose.
Anyhow, hunting camo pattern aren’t to be compared with the military ones.

Will the Zim customs let my camo shirts in : mesh shirt or silvermax scentfree shirt

For me it’s an important issue for I can bring only 8 pounds of garments and accessories. Selecting few adapted items of clothing is crucial. I can’t allow myself to have my shirts seized and be forced to buy non described shirts or T shirts in Harare

I always take camo, just make sure you do not take anything that is of a military design. Where are you hunting in Zim?

JB,

You should have no problems as long as the camo isn't of a military design. I doubt they'll even bother to look at what you have in your bags.

A friends girlfriend was taken to the police station and ordered to take of her cammo shorts, so you can never now.
TIA.

well hell - i'd take the shorts of the girl too - given a chance - but not the guy - seriously i've never seen camo questioned in zim, but it's also quite unnecessary.

Ann, Erik

I am simply following your bright example like the good boy I wish I am : I'll hunt with Charlton McCallum outfit.

I am really reassured that I can bring efficient cloths for bowhunting.
On the other side, camo are often not very becoming. When looking at photos of my trophies I am dismayed to be clad like sort of a bush tramp.
Perhaps I'll bring some well ironned chinos and shirts just for the photos.

JB,

If you wish to follow in my footsteps, you will need to bring shorts that are so worn out that they can be left behind when you leave Zim. There was in fact so little fabric left in my shorts that it was almost like being on a John Taylor safari.

Also, fwiw, I wouldn't bother much with bringing (or buying) expensive camo. As long as the cloths are a darkish/neutral color, such as olive green, there should be no need for fancy stuff IMO.

JB,

Will you be bowhunting from blinds, treestands or stalking?

Stalking only and on a private owned ranch during a week or so. The rest, 2 weeks will be with the rifle along with my cousin.
It'll be the first time we'll have a go at southern game. For the moment we know only game from western and central Africa. I don't want to imagine the bag we can get, our bankers would be upset.
