Beautiful rifle in a very versatile calibre! The condition is

indeed pristine. I admit to being biased towards this rifle as I

have a 1911 Charles Lancaster 450/400 NE 3 1/4" that I bought from

500N (Nigel) ?7-8 yrs ago. It is also a best quality sidelcck but

looks significantly different than yours. Mine has stepped sideplates

(ala Rigby). Would be interesting to find out why they made some in

this pattern & others like yours. Once again, congrats on a great

rifle, good hunting.

Would lancaster have supplied the tubes for this (oval bore with CL stamps) to Webley's and received a completed rifle, or would Lancaster have simply purchased an action and done all the rest of the work?
