Chamber wall minimums for .450 NE?
      #77740 - 01/05/07 03:39 AM

I'm building a falling block big bore on a Steve Earle Action. Its not a double, but the theory is the same and the .450 3&1/4" NE is a double round. At its original loading it created 17tons of pressure. Modern powders allow loads in the sub 12tons ranges. The Wesson action has a very robust extractor which cuts in the chamber significantly. After chambering the .450, I would be left with .138" wall. I'm considering thining the extracor some. I dont have a .450 double handy. Would one of you gents be able to Measure a wall if you can? I have some documentation on the subject, but it mostly pertains to higher pressure rounds and the books are currently at work. Thanks for any input.
Steve
