Ballards.

They say they'll handle all the nitro's, but then again, they say somewhere only blackpowder charges, so I'm a little confused by their adds.

I have several of their rifles. Excellent workmanship and a company that knows what it is doing and cares. If you are concerned as to whether they will handle the modern Nitro cartridges (and the will) call the company and ask for Keith. He is the man in charge of production, a gunsmith in his own right, and honest and will answer all of your questions regarding ballistics, strength of the action, etc. (And the 1885 Browning-designed High Walls are incredibly strong.) These rifles look really nice ! It seems they build their own actions and do not use the Winchester/Browning, so it would be interesting to hear about the differences beteween the two actions.

I believe BP is recommended in the 75 actions while the high wall is for the "Express" rounds as noted, to .600 nitro. They aren't making 12 and 13 pound .600 or .577 Nitro high walls for black powder loads only, of course, if one desires, they'd make nice moose rifles.

I was not doughting the action itself, only I was confused about their "policy" in the fine print, and must have been reading the one in the low-wall section.

The actions are built in house. Dave
