Has anybody had any problems with this maker? Looks like a very good custom builder to me. Would you trust your life on safari with one?

Hein is a good middle level builder, from what I have seen. Clearly better than Dakota or Empire. But not in the same fit and finish class as the top makers in the American Custom Gunmakers Guild.

The Hein actions I have seen were basically upsided model 70s, although there was talk of them building true M98's too.

I would much sooner trust my life to a Hein than an out of the box model 70 or CZ550. But all guns need to be thoroughly tested before you trust your life to them.

Nice guns and very nice people. They have a Mauser action coming out soon. I recently talked to Dave Norin who is an ACGG gunmaker and a good friend since he was introduced to me by another top gunmaker, Chic Worthing. Dave said that he liked the Hein actions. Dave normally uses original Oberdorf Mausers or GMA actions and he would be using Heins as well in the future.

Talk to Karl or Gregg at Hein and you'll find them very nice people as many others have.
