Webley Screw-Grip: Photos
      #73574 - 10/03/07 11:16 PM

There have been a number of previous discussions about the Webley Screw-Grip, what is, what isn't, etc, but unfortunately no-one has bothered to post a photo of the screw-grip spindle to clear this up once and for all. I don't own one unfortunately, and the next nearest that I know of is a long drive from my home.

The topic has surfaced over on the DoubleGun BBS recently, and luckily a couple of really clear photos have been posted. I have shamelessly 'borrowed' the links, with apologies and thanks to Rocketman and Cloffe. I hope they won't mind as its for a good cause: our edjukashun!

I know it's poor form to post links to another forum, but DoubleGun is shotgun only and is therefore not 'competitive' on matters of nitro-express rifles. I hope you'll forgive me this once, John, on such an important subject.

Here's the thread, definitely worth a look: http://doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthrea...;gonew=1#UNREAD

Let me know if the link doesn't work for non-members.

Good post, Marrakai.

My only Webley screw grip is in the shop and has been for several months. It has been my intention to take shots with the same perspective as these, both of the A&W C and of the PHV-1 I own. My delay has been imposed by the gunmaker and now by my sloth.

I've always found my Sloth too slow, plus he can't seem to ever get the photo in phocus. Try the Vervet next time.

Thanks Marrakai. Good idea and I doubt anyone will mind.

Roscoe, please post a pic of your 450NE from this angle

here, and on your www.roscoestephenson.com site for us!

BUT, with the top lever pushed over to the FAR RIGHT, I'd

love to see if the threads look different or what ever as I

have never seen this action in person, search as I do for

it. I keep hoping for www.griffinhowe.com to get one in.

I live about 45 min's west of their New Jersey location.

The AR crew would like this I believe. Can we share it?

I for one am very happy to see these pic's, they are

perfect for veiwing the threads of the "screw"!

I have come to the decision that no superior system exists.

I am far from and expert, but I am getting great pleasure

from the learning process. Thank you Marrakai, 500Nitro,

Roscoe and all the rest of who share your "good stuff"!

Tony you have a PM from me about your hunting operation/

MARRAKAI.

I understand that www.ttproctor.com uses something of

a "screw grip" design in the DR's that he builds there

in merry "olde" England. Maybe we can get a pic showing

this perspective from jtomlinson of Trevors action.

I have a Wm Evans (now that I've read the thread on DGBBS I should say a Webley) 10 bore SLE with the screw grip. If I can get some clear pics I'd be happy to send them to someone who can post them.
