Time Machine To The Turn Of The Century...
      #72199 - 22/02/07 07:53 AM

To ponder of a time past when these guns were actually made by the masters who dreamed the dreams, and gave us some of us eternal love for these amazing treasures. Interesting forums this nitroexpress.com I will be posting more as I have time to do so.

Thank you Sinner for guiding me here!

Sincerely,
Van

Van-

Welcome!
Is that a .600 nitro double rifle in that photo?

Looking forward to your participation.

That looks more to me like the Nicholas Mackinson .600 NE barrels that Adone T. Pozzobon engraved, but the avatar photo is too small to be 100% sure.

Good Call Clark! ...cudos!

I see by the photo in the link you posted that that gun was made by Mackinson in Howell Michigan.

I was under the impression that Mackinson lived in Ontario or least was from Ontario.

anyone know if he is still smithing?

DT:

I too thought he was in Canada. I looked through an old (albeit only two year old) Double Gun Journal earlier and saw his advertisement. It does say he is in Canada, but also has a Port Huron, Michigan Address.

So I'm not really sure what the story is. Maybe two shops?

Nick Makinson finished the new barrels in .500 Nitro for a Rodda action I sent him in Sept 2005. As far as I know now he is still working.

He had sone orther work for me as well, such as putting rifles "back on face" a couple of times for me.

Shipments were to Port Huron, then he tooke them through Customs and did the work in Ontario where he lives.

Nice guy. (You can tell him I said so!)
