Here is an FN Mauser in 375 H&H with custom bottom metal by Paul Jaeger so that it holds 6 rounds down plus 1 in the chamber. Scope mounts are Griffin & Howe.

I plan to dump the peep sight, shorten the barrel a bit and put on NECG sights. Also I will replace the FN safety with a 2 pos swing safety (model 70 style but 2 position). Plus a new recoil pad.

Very interesting. When you mentioned once that it held 6+1 rounds, I expected a typical Westley Richards .425 WR type dropbox magazine! But it's hardly noticeable.

How does it shoot?

Ps. Cool bench!

Erik

Erik,

Without doing any load development work, it has shot under an inch at 100 yards so I am sure I can shrink it further.

The gun feeds fabulously and will swallow any flat nose bullet that I have access to.

Going culling?

Nice rifle -- should win the mag capacity contest too!

Quite nice, 500gr. I'always like the 'extra' capacity of the BRNO .358 Norma, but that was when I used it on flocks of coyotes in the cow pasture. Fun, fun, fun.
; Very nice, ideed.

Sorry, but the bathroom scale is on the fritz so no weight. I would say this rifle is about 9.5 pounds with the scope, but that is only an estimate. I will not checker it as the LOP is a bit short for my taste and the forearm is a bit wide. If I am not happy with how it feels with a new pad, then I would invest in a new stock.

I would also advice a new trigger. The use of an original length trigger combined with a dropped magazine, does not only look fugly, but also kind of squeese your finger, resulting in uncomfortable operating.

Interresting rifle %00 Grains, nice feature with those extra rounds. Who knows when those extra rounds will be needed to have, the one thing that is sure is that when that time comes, you will have some extra 300-380 grain arguments.....

Nice rifle btw, when about isit made ? It should have been made more like that in that style .

Dan,

A very nice rifle. Like Erik says, it doesn't look unusual at all.

So there is a bout of elephant bashing on the horizon and we could expect pictures and a detailed report from you.

Good hunting and we'll wait for the hunt pics!

Mehul, I would consider myself a very lucky fellow if I got to partipate in a cull of anything. But culling of ele will surely be left to the professionals and the tourists like myself will have to settle to shooting only a handful of elephant per year.
