Hi,
Westley Richards has a 557 greener 11lbs for the 650 grain bullet. Does any body know anything about this gun. It is a tired looking old gun but is in a facinating calibre. Thanks for any replies.
Ernest

Suggest you put a link up if it is on the net
so people can go straight to it.

Much easier to comment.

I would love to but I don't know how. Are there any instructions on posting links.

Wahl, it's sure an ugly sumvabuck ain't it? Probably a 90/650 at that weight, could be either 2 3/4" or 3". Not exactly Selous sideplates, but effective I suppose, although ugly as sin. With the exception of the Krieghoff, I can't think of a more useless DR safety than the Greener. This one proves that there isn't any magic in a DR just being British.

Enjoy the view.
It is an ugly one for sure.
And not ugly on the cheap.

Do you guys think those reinforcements were installed when the rifle was built?

I don't think so.
There's hints of craftsmanship there, but nothing at the scale of a double rifle build.
They look ackward, the proportions aren't right, the plates are 'choppy'

Actually looks like it's acting as a mis-fitted replacement for the Greener safety bosses.
Probably broke through the wrist for lack of wood -- due to the safety being there!

Yes. I've seen several just like it, so I think it must have been a specific Greener model. I remember a .450/.400 3 1/4" in particular that was a twin to it. Just Greener's take on the same concept as the Baker extended top tang, but substantially less attractive.
