Looking for a forum leader - North Amer Hunting
      #6657 - 08/01/04 02:15 PM

I'm looking for a Forum Leader for the North American hunting board.

What do you need? To be an enthusiastic hunt in the US or Canada, someone who gets out there and enjoys him or herself and also wants to share the experience with others. Wants to have fun talking about hunting in North America and reading what others do too.

Doesn't matter if you use a rifle, shotgun, bow, muzzleloader or blackpowder. Hey preferably all of them!

Drop me a line (PM) if you are interested.

No ones interested in hunting in North America ???????

Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of hunting in your fine lands yet, so am unable to contribute much to this forum.

If anyone is interested please drop me a PM.

Requirements: show an interest in the NE.com forums by participating (ie have some posts on the board already), have hunted in your own lands a fair bit and like to lead or introduce new topics on the North American board.

Hey if your not careful I will have to look for a Canadian! Now that is a great land of fine hunting opportunities and part of the British Commonwealth too

Seriously if anyone is interested - drop me a line.

What does the forum leader do?

I was just curious. I see the forum leader identified on various other forums and have always wondered what their function is.

I'm sure you've many more qualified applicants

I just wondered what's expected of them...some boards call them moderators, others are forum leaders.

Well there is also the twice yearly party hosted by NitroX at his vast vineyard and winery. We get the choice of all of the Free Hunts that are donated by hungry outfitters looking for some publicity. We also get first choice on all of the Firearms from Holland and Westley Richards etc. that they send in for payment to the forum for pimping their products.

We don't get much else, aside from the US$1,000/month stipend. A tireless task and not nearly enough of a reward for the mental effort that is required.

Damn I think I resign and become a forum leader myself.

Forum leaders, even though this software calls them moderators, don't really moderate. Usually they stir and are ratbags and not very reputable (only joking). Now if you have a look at some of their profiles you will see what I mean. Here is a selection: occupation: tax slave (that alone got him the job); interests shown for one forum leader: amateur surgery; impaling; public drunkedness; champion of unpopular and lost causes.

My prediction of members of this forum and double rifle users also being Monty Pythonites is worrying.

NE.com basically has open, unmoderated and uncensored discussions. Thankfully we haven't had to censor or delete a post to date.

Really Forum Leaders exist just to spark some discussions and keep content going. Most are quite knowledgable in various areas and are keen and interested in topics and enjoy talking about them.

Not much different from most of the members in that regard.

I'm a "Forum Director" on another forum. We often have to edit or delete posts, mainly from non-sponsers posting sales and trying to advertise on the board. Sometimes we have to rein in trolls too.

Of course we have 18,500 members and right now we have over 500 ppl browsing (about 250 members and 250 nonmembers).

Course I dont have nearly enough North American hunting expirience (or even firearms expirence) to be a leader on a firearms board.

crazyquik

I'm confused. Did you ask to be a forum leader here, or just commenting generally? I didn't receive an expression of interest from you, unless I'm mistaken. Everyone who expressed interest (3 persons) received a reply from me.

I like to be inclusive. I didn't appoint Ann as she is already a forum leader and can do the same anyway.

Sorry about that not being clear, I was just making a general comment! I wasn't expressing interest.

Apologies. After posting that I realised I should have sent a PM instead. Just in case you had asked.

I get a lot of emails and delete the spam ones by looking at the sender and the subject only, usually from a webmail page. Sometimes I do delete real ones by mistake. I know because if the person clicks on the "reply receit" box it pops up and I think, oops. And recover it.

I worry sometimes I may not be reading some email which I should get.

PMs are good as the spammers haven't worked them out yet to fill up.

Again apologies, my misunderstanding.

Mike

I thought we weren't supposed to mention that. Didn't you know Nitro ran out of money and everybody didn"t get it? He asked me to kick back $500 so everybody would get some. I said 'screw you' it's my money now. Shhh, mums the word.
