I have not hunted Africa and thus chose big bear.

I would expect hunting Elephants to be the most exciting hunt, but Cape Buffalo would probably be right there too!

African hunters,sing out!

I voted cow ele as my one and only cape buff hunt was just a bit of sniping at about 50 yards. Was exciting to have several dugaboy a few yards away on the other side of a bush at one time though.

Regarding cow elephants, several times the PH said, including the first elephant I shot, "as soon as she sees you, she will charge". But no time was given her. At least another time, we saw a cow hiding behind a bush seeming to wait to ambush us. Again he said - "walk around the bush and she will come for you". The range would have been only a few yards. But again even before I cleared the bush she turned and fled.

The PH was perplexed as to why the cow eles weren't charging at all and running away instead. Would have got the two eles quicker if they had too.

My vote went for tuskless cows as well. Although they can be a very straigtforward affair, like unmolested buff, they can be terror on four feet as well. So unpredictable. Yet, my favourite big game animal is still an old dagga-boy.

Tuskless cows are with out a doubt the animals that have given me most trouble in Africa. On foot, when hunting, and even when driving. The most agressive ones I've been around were generally in northwestern Uganda, and in Moremi, Botswana.

They are far more nasty than bulls, and also tusked cows, in my experiance.

It's a toss up for me. Since the only animal listed that I have hunted and of the 7 I have killed none were particularly intimidating So that leaves to OTHERS

First the wild hog. When shot at close range, if not put down at the shot, it always seems to me that the old boars will turn to the shot when hit and come at you and come quick. Make sure you are ready to put them down. Sows don't seem to do it as often but they will.

The most dangerous game, chasing the human female! Be careful here. They will kill you! Enough said.

I have hunted Kodiak Brown Bear, Black Bear. African Lion, Leopard and Cape Buffalo, but not elephant. I think hunting a trophy bull elephant would be the most exciting.

DoubleD--

Under "other" I agree that the human female is the most deadly exciting game anywhere!! Once you hunt one and actually catch one life's safari begins in earnest.

And Beware!
If married chasing another such an exciting creature can end up leaving you at the paupers house, penniless and gunless or worse!!

Yup-The female of the humnan species-
THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME OF ALL!!

I voted tuskless cow elephant, but I've had near as much trouble from tusked cows. Bulls don't compare when it comes to aggresiveness, thoguh I've had a couple of run ins with bulls.

Cow elephants first, bull elephants second.

I think these two are by far, more dangerous to the hunter before the shots are fired than the other Dangerous Game Animals.
Also since you usually shoot elephants closer than other DG they are more dangerous immediately after shots are fired.

If the animal is shot, goes down, and you can see it, then I think the cats would be most dangerous on the APPROACH because they are so quick.

If a DG animal is shot and gets out of sight, then you have a follow up. On the FOLLOW UP, again I think the cats would be the most dangerous because of the combination, they are sneaky and are harder to see than the larger DG.

As I look at I do not see where cape buff are dangerous at all....

Just kidding. Buff derive their danger from the fact that they can soak up a lot of lead, and when they do charge they are hard to stop.

Still I think elephants are head and shoulders above the rest.
Especially when you shoot them close.
And why would you want to do it any other way???
