I notice that we have quite a few new posters here and I want to welcome you all. There is as much, or more, information on Large Bore, traditional calibers and on Double Rifles as you will find anywhere on the internet.

Jump right in and I hope you all feel welcome, if not Christer will send you a picture of his girlfriend.

I think the big man has been enjoying the sun of Spain with wife and kids.

I see from his safari pics he had two women with him on his last safari and neither was his wife !!!!!!

(just trying to start evil rumours and get him out of his sunny hibernation)

Since he is gone this is the best time to start a rumour.

I for one have found this site to be very informative. Of the others I frequent this site has a much larger posting membership keeping the topics fresh and current and though there are bonds here from member to member it as well has a new member rate that will not require you to feel like your interrupting a private conversation to post or ask a question.

I spend most my time on this site reading rather then posting but visit regularly as my schedule allows. I have already made some purchases based on information received here and now have three DG rifles warming the interior of the safe or in production to do so compared to the zero I had when joining the site. Now I simply need next years season in the dark continent to hopefully add a few large heads to the wall. One of the Safari outfits in my consideration I also found on this site.

NONE

C'mon, you can't say you have bought 3 new DG Rifles and not tell us what you got. As to the other, very few of the posters here actually know anyone else, here. Our aquaintance is here on the internet and maybe someday we'll actually get to meet one another.

You are right, new posters bring new thoughts and ideas.

James

You are not interrupting private conversations as if they were private we wouldn't be posting them on a public forum.

I do not personally know most of the people on this forum, though I have heard very bad things about Mickey.

Overtime some of us have spoken on the phone, exchanged emails, PMs, made threatening phone calls to each other, had fistfights ........ Oops that was just me.

I do hope though to meet many of them one day in person maybe at a convention or on a hunt or wherever. On my last safari I went out to dinner with other guests of the Afton Guest House in Jo'burg and it was quite interesting to find out 3 or so of the others had also been on the same forums.

I'm glad you you find this site useful and hopefully entertaining. Continue to join in and have fun.

You have only heard the good things. If you had heard the bad things you would have banned me, come to my house and taken my computer and and coated me with Rangoon Oil and Duck feathers.

Nitrox,

I must have mislead with my vernacular, I was stating this site DOSE NOT give that impression. Many sites I have come across come off that way this one not being one of them, hence my joining here.

Micky,
Thanks for your interest. Small game to most here I am sure but I have aquired a Merkel double in .470NE a pre 64 Winchester in 375H&H and commissioned a custom CZ based rifle in .458lott. I also purchased the Dakota 76 in 7mm for plains game. I feel the big bore bug has hit and hope I have not made first timer mistakes with my choices. I really want to find a Gibbs, Jeffrey or the sort next and another double in 9,3x74r would be nice over time as well as a true Brit double maybe in the infamous .577 for that stopper I really don't need .

I have the best part yet to sort out with a Safari firm to make all this hardware worth it. I hope the SCI convention will help in this area as well as some others I have in mind. I have the hardware to support my next three adventures to Africa before the first, I have a tendency to be impulsive.

You can't go wrong with any of those. Great choices and pretty well will set you up for everything!

PS I think you are going to have the outfitters and agents salivating at your next step.

PPS Just saw a rabbit run along my front driveway. Got to go away and kill a varmint.

I think you did swell. You covered all the bases in regards to need and now you are free to just go after want. Their are a number of British Rifles in 9.3x74R that have been rechambered from the 400/360. If you could find one of them for a reasonable amount you would be doing fine.

I think I see a hole in your arsenal at the 400 level and as you say at the 577 and larger level.

I have a 375 in a pre 64 Alaskan and think heaps of it.

Good luck and keep us informed.
