Thanks for your kind comments they are appreciated. I have never known a double rifle gunsmith but fail to see any appreciable difference in a double rifle and a double shotgun other than the joining of the barrels. That is my personal opinion and will no doubt be disputed by all present. They are free to their opinion as are you of course. I think I am out of place in a forum of Double Rifle people and really should learn to remain silent.

zimhunter, I don't think you need to remain silent at all, but I do think you need to be a little less sensitive. I've always enjoyed your posts, and 50 yrs of gunsmithing holds a wealth of information we can use. I'd hate to see that fade away.

I meant no disrespect, with my comment on 50 years of gunsmithing not necessarily teaching a gunsmith anything about double rifles. That was simple fact, not a put down to you personally. Since you have owned several double rifles, you probably know a lot about them, but the 50 yrs doesn't necessarily proove that!

In responce to you assumption that there is little difference between a shotgun, and a double rifle, is true as far as they do look the same, after that, there is a great difference, and as I said before, I know several smiths who are top notch, but you wouldn't believe the opinions that come out of their mouths in regard to double rifles. It simply indicates they do not understand double rifles. That has nothing to do with the quality of the work they do understand. This is sort of like a proctologist, doing brain surgery, the training AIN'T there for the best job. Still they are both doctors, and I'm sure there are proctologists, who have the surgical skill to do brain surgery, but I wouldn't bet they know how!

Stick around, nobody here is trying to put you down, just offering opposeing opinions, nothing more!
