450 NE No2,

I thought about restocking but time and $'s had me try removing some wood. It worked remarkably well. First, off with the cheekpeice, then while I'm standing there remove a little wood from the right side and try, remove a little more wood, try repeat til close then try, shoot, remove wood, try, shoot...til it seemed just right.

Removeing just a little wood results in a big change in fit.

It looks like I have quota for eight elephants this coming safari. One bull and seven tuskless. Also a buff. I leave Sept 11 for five weeks.

Banzaibird,

Its Curl's shooting shack so only he knows how many folks could be accomodated shooting there but I think a get together with a bunch of NitroExpress members from our area, or any who want to join in, would be great. We should all work now to schedule a date.

The Homestead and Greenbrier are pretty pricey resorts, both with golf and shooting and fishing, as well as spas for the ladies. Rates vary through the year and post New Year is the more affordable time of year, but still pricey. But there are other more reasonable places to stay in the area. IIRC, you can shoot SC's, etc at the Homestead though not staying there. They have a rifle range as well, I think. The Greenbrier has more limited facilities I think, but is also open to the public.

If we end up scheduling dates in the spring, when risks of hypothermia diminish, I might be able to talk my brother into letting some members camp out at his farm. Some of my worst memmories of childhood involve shivering in lousy sleeping bags, in leaky tents, and winter camping doesn't appeal to me, even with a sheapard's stove.

Chasseur,

Keep me apprised of when you are coming east. We need to schedule a get-together.

Roscoe,

Now that's what I call a man's retreat. The only thing missing is an English mastiff on the floor.

Those pictures bring back some memories. Grew up deer hunting in Pennsylvania.

And we did a lot of mountain training in West VA. No sleep though - we were dropped in and picked up 3 days later. I vividly recall when a member of our detachment, a new guy from a big city who knew it all, decided to take a little break. He wandered off a way. A few minutes later we heard hinm screaming in pain. Seems he discovered that urine is an excellent conductor of electricity supplied by an electric fence.

Your castle looks like a true hunter's paradise.

Grizz,

You will have to come east and enjoy it some time.

Thanks for the message.
