im looking forward to try one, in .450-400 . though i have one in .450 NE,but a companion with lighter bullets is always good to have. I hope that they get better bullets than what i have read about theirs until now. This one needs Woodleigh bullets to be good, not soft points that break on impact.

I think this is a great move by Ruger, for various reasons.

The chief benefit I hope to see is FACTORY 450/400 ammo with Woodleigh bullets as well as others, Swift A Frames etc!!

Now I can play with a 450/400 single shot till I can get the 450/400 DR want!!

Eventually I hope this will affect current DR makers to maunfactor more 450/400 Doubles.

Time will tell. I like Rugers decision.

The article I linked showed open boxes of Hornady factory ammo next to the rifle. I'm assuming Hornady will be providing factory ammo for this rifle. Hornady bullets definitely aren't Woodleighs, though.

k80,
I have no doubt Ruger will be bringing both the 9.3x74R and 450-400, but I'm not holding my breath for it to be done anytime soon. Ruger does have a habit of loosing the goose before they are ready for production. The Gold Label was probably their most ambitious project yet, and from the time it was announced till it was available was about 2 1/2 years. Hoping we will see the 9.3x74R, 450-400, 358 Winny, 375 Ruger, etc... sometime next year. I don't think we will see them in any numbers before then. 'Course I could be surprised...

Anyone know if they're going 0.408 or 0.411 bore?
Cheers...
Con

Nothing definite yet, but going out on a limb, if we assume Hornady is making the factory ammo and they made the factory ammo for the 405 Winchester, it would not surprise me for them to hold the diameter at .411". Of course, that is a long stretch from a cost perspective, so who knows what they will bring out.

Hopefully they will stick with the original and
go .411.

Hallo,

that would be great!
I hope, that one of our german gunsmith like Merkel or Kreighoff will also made their Doublerifles in .450/.400
Itīs a great cartrigdes with the same balistics like my 10,75x68 and perhaps the most used flanged case in the good old times of big-game hunting.
Will Ruger adapt the case with 3" length or the Magnum with 3 1/4"?
Other smallboared N.E. cartriges would also very interested like the .350Rigby No.2, the .375H&H flanged or more for Europe and Northamerica the .400/.360N.E. 2 3/4".

regards
Manolito
