Hi Zaitsev,

without having any experience with the 358 Norma I would consider the factory load 250grs Oryx as a good all round load (light antelopes)and the 250grs or 280grs Swift A-Frame well suited for heavier game (oryx, wildbeest).

Can you give me an information where I can get a look at the Schulz and Larsen Rifles (of Denmark)?
In germany this company is unheard of, but in the Norma reloading book this company received a good testimony.

regards
rolf

rolf

the testimony is well deserved, S&L is making real good looking rifles that are tackdrivers as well.
when weatherby looked for an action that he could place his 460 wmn in he started with S&L actions.
they are well known to most danish shooters as some of the most accurate rifles out of the box and there barrels are exellent, they are somewhat pricy but well worth it in my opinon.

website is :www.shultzlarsen.com

enjoy or visit the factory they are very nice people.

regards peter

Zaitsev, Peter,

sorry for sidestepping the original post, but do you think that an original 98 DWM system (with thumbhole, from around 1935)is strong enough for containing a .358 Norma?
(The Schulz&Larsen homepage does not show an importing dealer for germany)

I have aquired a shot out .264 Winchester rifle with this 98 system and a really beautiful walnut stock.
For accomodating the .264 Win. Mag., the bolt face was opened of course to the .375 H&H case size , so I have to stick to this size.
Possibilities in cartridge selection would be the 7mm Weatherby (I like the long neck) or the .358 Norma.
For a .358 Norma I would attach a 58cm (ca. 23") barrel for quick handling, then it should be a good rifle for swedish moose in timber/woodland.

All comments will be gladly appreciated!
regards
Rolf
