308Win with 220 grains softpoint?

I have to reload 308 Win with a 220 grain softpoint speer bullet for a friend.
Anyone here have loading data for such an unusual bullet weigth in the 308win. Have load subsonic's with this bullet in 3006 some years ago but the 308 must have a little bit more power now.
thanks for any input or idea how to go

Steve's Pages has some charge weight ranges; no velocities though. Probably won't be able to get much over 2200 fps with this bullet, I'd suspect.

I don't have any data for you, but you should be able to make 2,200fps to 2,250fps wth maximum loads.
: I suggest your friend tried a 200gr., like the Speer Spitzer at about 2,450fps.

I've not used the 220 gr. bullet in a .308, but that is the bullet I use in my .300 Win. Mag. double rifle. Really knocks them and penetrates!

You might want to check the twist of his barrel. A lot of 308's are 1 in 12. That might not stabilize a long bullet like a 220gr.
