Anyone read german that could give us an idea of what the page says?

What do they mean by 12/70? I assume it is a 12 guage 70mm (2 3/4")?

How dificult is it to import sporting arms from Germany?

I speak a little bit german: this is a side by side combination gun from A. Wolf in Suhl, barrel length 56cm, rifle caliber 9,3x74R, shotgun caliber 12/70(2,75").
This gun was made in july 1990, have a "Suhler Einhackmontage" mount, greener action with double underlug, automatic safety, rear set trigger, thats what we call here a german stock

I post it here because a side by side combination gun in 9,3x74R is a rare thing , never see this before
its what you call a guild gun from Suhl

I NEED that cape gun...! I had a drilling in 12/12/9,3X74R and loved it, but someone loved it a bit too much and paid my price. Those are the two most useful barrels one can own in a combo gun.

I use my Tikka 512 in 12/76 and 9,3X74r extensively. Thanks much for that post. I enjoyed looking at an unusual combination SXS.

Very nice... I sold a nice little cape gun by the same maker to Pete Stewart two years ago. It was as nice as they make anywhere. The gun had been part of a two barrel set, it appeared, but the SXS shotgun barrels were missing. It was 16-65mm/9,3X72R with a Hensoldt Zeil-Dialyt 4X in claw mounts. The gun wasn't of the grade this one is, but it was as well made as any I've ever held.

A properly balanced cape gun is a joy to carry. Those who think not have never held a properly built one.

I sure wish we could find combination guns of that quality and price here in the USA.

I am the proud owner of a Simson Cape gun in 8 x 57 JRS and 16 gauge. There is also a set of 16 x 16 ga barrels. The gun is plain with no engraving or claw mounts and shoots very well. I have killed half a dozen water buffalo with the gun. I have owned this gun since 1982 or thereabouts.

Apart from one Polish cape gun in 9.3 x 72r and 16 gauge (I think) I have never seen anything similar to my Simson.

cheers

I scored a nice Sauer two barrel set about ten years ago...one in 12SXS and the other in 12x8X57JR. It had claw bases on the cape gun barrels, and I had a 3X scope in claw mounts installed. I almost bought a Simson set just like yours last year, but found only moths in my wallet at the time I had the opportunity to almost steal the set.

I prefer the 16 gauge versions, as they are often built on 20ga frames, and are much lighter and trimmer. I covet your gun in the JRS configuration ...

Luv2safari,
Bit late I know, I have been tied up.
It is a lovely thing and a joy to use. I have owned it twice now, but don't believe that I will try for a third time, very plain, no claw mounts, one fixed and one flip up sight.

A good hunter!!!!

cheers

Chris
