Adam,
Here are the pics of the quilt we made from two "down throws" I got from Sierra Trading Post........cost was $15.00ea........first my much better half moved the down around in the tubes of the throws to even it out and then sewed in the squares.......then the bottom of one of the throws was sewn around the edges to make a "foot box."........the two throws were sewn together and the quilt was made.......after some trimming, it weighs 2lbs...an average size person, with a bit of judicious trimming could get this thing down well under 2lbs....great for the late spring, early fall hunts....total construction time: 1hr.....I've used it down to +16F(-6-8C?) but I was wearing light fleece and I'm a warm sleeper. Compresses nicely for packing by stuffing the main part into the foot box......you can buy kits online but this was really an easy and inexpensive way to see if I liked it......several companies make these ready to use and they can be spendy. These things are non-confining and allow you freedom of movement, which is desirable when you're camped in bear country. Pull it on and sleep on your pad.
Anyway, not for everyone, but works for me.

stretched out, it's well over 6' long and over 50" in the shoulder area so there's room to make it smaller and lighter.

Foot box

Mick, she can never say I do not think about her. She finished it the other day.
